Mathologio
The teacher's workspace — from the lesson plan to the student's progress
One workspace for a teacher's day: exercise bank, tests, gradebook, attendance, planner and the student card — on the desktop for the heavy work, and on the phone and tablet in the classroom, even with no signal.
The problem
A school year spread across ten files
Grades live in a spreadsheet with three versions of itself, exercises in folders of Word documents, the register on paper, where each class stopped in a diary, and what a teacher has noticed about a student in their head. Every piece exists. What is missing is the thread between them — so a test is assembled by copy and paste, an average is worked out again by hand, and "where did we get to with B2?" costs the first five minutes of the lesson.
What we built
One workspace, with the student at the centre
Mathologio treats the day as a chain rather than a set of modules: the plan leads to the lesson, the lesson to the register and the homework, the homework and the tests to the gradebook — and all of it gathers on the student's card. The web app is desktop-first, for the work that needs a keyboard; the phone and tablet app is for the 80% that happens standing up in a classroom, and it keeps working when the school Wi-Fi does not. It sits beside the official school systems, not in place of them.
Inside the product
What is actually in it
An exercise bank with real maths
Exercises by chapter and tag, full-text search, images only where they earn their place — a diagram, a graph, a map — and the history of every test an exercise has already been in. Mathematics is typeset with KaTeX, on screen and on paper.
Formulas without writing LaTeX
A visual formula editor builds the expression and the LaTeX writes itself, with a live preview under every editor. It ships inside the app and makes no network call — a fraction does not need a third party.
Tests that never rewrite themselves
A test is composed from the bank in one column, with a preview before each question goes in. Once set, every question is a frozen copy: correcting an exercise next year never changes a test that has already been sat. Question sheets and solutions come out as PDF.
A blank is not a zero
An Excel-like gradebook with weighted categories and rounding rules written down rather than inherited. Emptying a cell deletes the grade instead of writing a 0 that would quietly drag an average down, and a finished column can be locked.
The register in one tap
Day arrows that skip the school weekend, a reason required for an excused absence or a removal from class, lateness in minutes — and "no lesson today" for a strike or a holiday, so a closed school never turns into twenty-five absences.
Where we left off
A Today board with the next lesson, a planner that remembers where every class stopped, and a calendar by month, week, day or agenda — drag to schedule, with each school's working hours drawn behind it.
The student card
Grades, attendance, tests, progress, notes and history for one student on one screen, with reports as PDF. Descriptive, always: no automatic label is ever attached to a child.
School, tutoring centre, private lessons
Somebody who teaches at a school, at a tutoring centre and privately has the same student in three places — and that is one student in three classes, not three records to keep in step.
A classroom app that works offline
Attendance, grades and notes on the phone with no signal, synced when the network comes back; a conflict shows both versions and the teacher chooses. The tablet has a layout of its own with the full grid. It is on its way to the App Store and Google Play.
Signature decisions
The calls we would defend
Who it is for
Primary and secondary school teachers, tutoring-centre teachers and private tutors in Greece — the teacher as a person, not the school as a customer.
-
A blank is not a zero and "no data" is not 0%: a grade that was never given leaves the cell empty instead of writing a zero, and a student with no days that count has no attendance rate — not a bad one.
-
The data belongs to children, so it is collected as though it might leak: no ID card, tax or social security numbers and no medical fields anywhere in the schema, notes that never leave the app unless explicitly marked shareable, and an audit log that records who changed what — never the text.
-
No telemetry, no third-party crash reporter, no fonts from a CDN. Each of those would be one more outside party handling children's data, and none of them gets a line of code without a privacy review first.
-
One plan with everything in it, and a trial that is the whole product — no tiers and no "upgrade to unlock". The phone app sells nothing; paying happens on the web.
-
It is not an LMS, not a school ERP and not a parent portal: it covers the gap between teaching and the official record, and it is deliberately kept to that.
